Our approach (Newfoundland & Labrador)

We prioritize early assessment, active rehab, and coordinated return-to-work planning. Your physiotherapist identifies the main drivers of pain and limitation, treats what’s modifiable, and builds a simple program you can follow at work and at home.

  • Objective baseline (pain, ROM, strength, function) to track change
  • Manual therapy for pain/stiffness + progressive exercise loading
  • Job-specific drills (lifting, pushing/pulling, kneeling, reaching)
  • Stepwise plan toward regular duties and hours
ESRTW (Early & Safe Return to Work)
  • Modified duties and hours when needed
  • Gradual increases guided by symptoms and objective change
  • Regular updates to you, your employer, and WorkplaceNL

FAQ

Do I need a doctor’s referral?

No referral is required to be assessed by a physiotherapist. WorkplaceNL may still request medical documentation for claims decisions.

Can I start physio before my claim number arrives?

Yes. We can assess and treat, help with forms, and add your claim number to the file once it’s issued.

Can I work while I’m in treatment?

Often yes—with modified duties or hours. Graduated RTW is part of ESRTW and usually supports recovery when planned safely.

What if my pain increases at work?

We’ll adjust loads, change duties, or re-evaluate before advancing. Pacing and task modification are built into your plan.
